But with this facility comes a big problem which is called distraction. Imagine, you are in a meeting, studying or driving, then suddenly a call or notification alert comes, distraction is certain. In such a situation, keeping the phone on airplane mode is not always a better option because it can completely cut off your connection. Instead, "Do Not Disturb" (DND) mode can be a great option.
What is DND mode?
For information, let us tell you that this feature silences the notifications and calls coming on your phone so that you can complete your important work without interruption. You can decide which apps or contacts to get notifications from and which ones to block. Notifications come even when DND is on but they do not sound. If you are bothered by frequent calls and notifications, then you can activate DND mode on your phone with the easy steps given below.
How to turn on DND mode on Android?
Note that the settings may vary slightly according to the brand but the basic method is almost the same.
Open Settings.
Type “Do Not Disturb” in the search bar or find the DND icon in Quick Settings.
Now turn on DND mode and if you want, you can also schedule and customize it.
For schedule, go to the ‘Schedule’ option, then press the + icon and select activities such as work, sleep, study etc. Also set the time.
You can put some contacts (like boss, partner etc.) and apps in exceptions so that you keep getting notifications from them.
How to turn on DND on iPhone?
Swipe up or down to open Control Center (depends on iPhone model).
Tap on "Focus" mode and then click on the “Do Not Disturb” icon.
Turn DND on or off as needed.
Like Android, here too you can set DND according to timing and purpose.
You can continue receiving calls from a specific contact even if DND is on by using the "Emergency Bypass" option.
