Travel Set to Hit Your Wallet Hard! Annual Toll Passes to Become More Expensive Starting April 1, Find Out How Much You Will Have to Pay..
For motorists who frequently travel on National Highways, the annual toll pass is set to become more expensive starting April 1, 2026. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has decided to increase the annual pass fee from ₹3,000 to ₹3,075. This new rate will be applicable for the financial year 2026-27. This pass is intended for private (non-commercial) vehicles equipped with a valid and active FASTag.
According to the new regulations, this ₹3,075 pass will remain valid for a period of one year or for up to 200 toll crossings—whichever milestone is reached first. This means that once the limit of 200 toll crossings is exhausted, the validity of the pass will expire, even if the one-year duration has not yet elapsed.
NHAI Issues Directives
The NHAI has instructed all toll plazas and relevant officials to implement the new rates starting April 1, 2026, and to disseminate this information to travelers and other stakeholders. According to the government, toll rates are reviewed and revised annually; in accordance with this standard procedure, a marginal increase has been applied to the price of the annual pass this year.
For individuals who commute daily or frequently on National Highways, this annual toll pass remains a convenient option, as it eliminates the hassle of making repeated toll payments.
How to Obtain an Annual Toll Pass?
Motorists who travel frequently on National Highways can easily procure an annual toll pass. This facility is provided by the NHAI, and having an active FASTag installed in the vehicle is a mandatory prerequisite. Vehicle owners can apply for the annual pass by logging into the portal of the NHAI or the bank/app that issued their FASTag. The prescribed fee for the annual pass must be paid online. Upon successful payment, the annual pass is linked to your FASTag, allowing you to utilize it at toll plazas without incurring any additional charges.
