How to get travel insurance on IRCTC Booking Process: When you book your train ticket on the IRCTC website, you will see the default option for 'Travel Insurance' with the 'Self Insurance' option selected. This ensures that you will be covered in case of an accident during your journey.
Insurance coverage:
Up to ₹10 lakh for death or permanent disability. ₹7.5 lakh for partial disability. ₹2 lakh for serious injuries. ₹10,000 for minor injuries.
Nominee details: After booking, you will receive a message with the insurance policy details. It is very important to fill in the nominee details, which include name, mobile number, date of birth, email, and relationship of the nominee to a family member.
Claim process timeline: The claim must be filed within four months of the train accident.
Filing a claim: You can submit your claim by visiting the office of the insurance company linked to the policy provided by IRCTC.
