Under the new system, payment at the Ajmeri Gate side parking will now be done through FASTag. The railway estimates that most vehicles will exit without stopping after dropping off or picking up passengers.

Passengers using the Ajmeri Gate side of New Delhi Railway Station will soon get significant relief. The traffic jams, parking disputes, and chaotic traffic at the station are about to become a thing of the past. Northern Railway has decided to implement a new system before January 26, which will make travel much smoother for passengers.

Railway prepares new traffic and parking system

Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay, Chief Public Relations Officer of Northern Railway, said that a new policy has been formulated for the station under the guidance of Delhi Divisional Railway Manager Pushpendra Kumar Tripathi. The objective of this policy is to control the congestion at the entry and exit points. It also aims to permanently eliminate complaints of arbitrary charges in the parking area.

FASTag payment to eliminate overcharging

Under the new system, payment at the Ajmeri Gate side parking will now be done through FASTag. The railway estimates that most vehicles will exit without stopping after dropping off or picking up passengers. The implementation of the automatic payment system will completely stop disputes over charges.

Separate routes for passengers, uninterrupted entry and exit

Keeping in mind the convenience of passengers, three special pathways are being created towards the Ajmeri Gate side. These routes will allow passengers to reach the security check and scanning area directly with their luggage. A separate lane will also be designated for passengers alighting from trains, allowing them easy access to taxis, buses, or the metro.

New company to take over parking management from December 28

Under the new policy of the Delhi Division, the tender for parking management has been completed. The selected company will start work from December 28. The tender conditions clearly state that it will be mandatory to implement all standards related to passenger facilities, vehicle control, and security within one month. Deployment of ex-servicemen to emphasize discipline and security

The new system prioritizes security. For the first time, ex-servicemen will be deployed as marshals for parking and traffic management. This will enhance the safety of female passengers and maintain discipline within the station premises. It will also curb complaints of misconduct by private security personnel. The experience of these army-trained personnel will further improve the overall security system at the station.
