Train News: Jammu–Srinagar rail link ready; Vande Bharat Express set to run from April 30
Vande Bharat Train: Direct rail connectivity from Jammu to Srinagar is set to commence on April 30. Travel via the Vande Bharat Express will become easier, save time, and provide a significant boost to connectivity and tourism in Kashmir.
Jammu-Srinagar Vande Bharat Train News: The wait is finally over for tourists and travelers planning to visit Kashmir from Jammu by train, as the long-awaited direct rail connectivity between Jammu and Srinagar is set to become a reality on April 30. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw will flag off the first direct Vande Bharat Express from Jammu Railway Station to Srinagar. He will be accompanied by Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office.
Official sources stated that all preparations for the launch have been completed, including successful trial runs, track readiness, and safety measures. Senior railway officials, along with local MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, are expected to be present on this occasion.
Direct Rail Connectivity to Ease Travel
Currently, two Vande Bharat trains operate between Katra and Srinagar. These services will now be extended up to Jammu, and the Railways is expected to announce a revised timetable shortly.
The launch of this direct train service is expected to significantly improve connectivity between the Union Territory's winter and summer capitals. It will reduce travel time and provide a reliable alternative to the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, particularly during adverse weather conditions.
Boost for Tourism and Administrative Activities
This development comes just ahead of the annual 'Darbar Move,' under which the offices of the Civil Secretariat in Jammu will remain closed between April 30 and May 2, and will reopen in Srinagar on May 4.
This service is also expected to benefit pilgrims undertaking the Amarnath Yatra. The pilgrimage is scheduled to begin on July 3, and this service will provide seamless connectivity from Jammu to the Valley. A Major Step in Development and Connectivity
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had previously inaugurated the Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat service and the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link project, thereby ensuring all-weather rail connectivity to Kashmir.
This extension to Jammu will prove to be another milestone in enhancing regional connectivity and boosting tourism and economic activities across the entire region of Jammu and Kashmir.
