TRAI Update: A big change going to happen regarding SIM cards from November 1..
TRAI has ordered telecom companies to implement new changes which will be effective from November 1. The new rule is being implemented to prevent fake calls and messages. Recently, Indian telecom companies Jio, Vodafone Idea, and Airtel have expressed their concern about the new OTP rules by TRAI, which has a provision to block OTPs.
Under this, telecom companies will have to ensure that there is a traceability record of all messages i.e. their sender can be found if needed. This new rule will help in curbing online scams. Telecom companies will now have to keep a complete record of all types of messages.
Initially, TRAI had directed telecom operators in August 2023 to track messages sent from banks and financial institutions. After the implementation of the new rule, some important messages may also be blocked, which may also include messages coming from bank accounts. This will cause trouble for the people.
