TRAI: Get rid of spam calls and messages! TRAI changed the rules of telemarketing..

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has completed preparations to curb spammers. For this, TRAI has made not one but many important changes in Telecom Commercial Communications Customer Preference Regulations (TCCCPR) - 2018. The purpose of these new rules and changes is to stop spam calls and messages and protect users from fraud.
Along with this, TRAI has also issued strict guidelines for telemarketing companies. This will also give customers relief from promotional calls and SMS.
Telemarketing calls will not come from mobile numbers
TRAI has banned telemarketing companies from calling or sending SMS from 10-digit mobile numbers. TRAI has made the use of the new number series mandatory for telemarketing companies and banking-related institutions. Now telemarketing companies will have to use 140 series numbers for promotional calls.
Along with this, banks and financial companies will have to use the 1600 number series for transactional and service calls. This will help users understand whether they are getting important calls from telemarketing companies.
Complaining has become easier.
TRAI has made the process of complaining about spam calls or messages much easier than before. Now users will not have to face trouble like before. TRAI has made the complaint process easier and faster.
Customers can now complain without registering.
Earlier, 3 days were given for complaints. TRAI has increased it to 7 days. Telecom operators will have to take action on customer complaints within 5 days. Earlier this period was 30 days.
Users will get an Opt-Out option
Now you do not need to be bothered by repeated marketing calls and SMS. According to TRAI's new rule, it is mandatory to provide an Opt-Out link in every promotional message. With this, users can immediately block the messages of that company or service. If the user has opted out of the promotional messages of a company, then it cannot send you messages again for 90 days.
Apart from this, TRAI has also instructed to divide the messages into 4 categories, so that users can easily identify the messages.
Heavy penalty on those who repeatedly break the rules
TRAI has also made rules for strict action against companies and individuals sending spam calls and messages.
On the first mistake: Outgoing call and SMS service stopped for 15 days.
On repeated mistakes: All telecom services including PRI/SIP trunks blocked for 1 year
Strict rules on telecom companies too
A fine of Rs 2 lakh for breaking the rules for the first time
A fine of Rs 5 lakh for breaking the rules for the second time
Fine of Rs 10 lakh for breaking the rules for the third or subsequent time
Along with this, TRAI says that the telecom company will have to enter into a legal agreement with telemarketers. This will make the telemarketing companies follow all the rules.
