The Kanwar Yatra begins even before the onset of the month of Sawan. Crowds of devotees start moving towards various Shiva temples for the pilgrimage. Every year during the holy month of Sawan, devotees undertake the sacred Kanwar Yatra to places like Gaumukh, Gangotri Dham, and Haridwar to fetch holy water from the Ganges. This water is offered at Shiva temples on the occasion of Sawan Shivratri. This year, the Kanwar Yatra will commence on July 30 and conclude on August 11 (Chaturdashi). During this period, devotees will offer the holy Ganges water to Lord Shiva. Consequently, a traffic advisory has been issued to ensure the convenience and safety of the Kanwar pilgrims.

**Kanwar Yatra Route Through Delhi**
During the Kanwar Yatra, devotees pass through Delhi, with many proceeding towards Haryana and Rajasthan via the Delhi borders. Given the heavy traffic, the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is not considered safe for the movement of Kanwar pilgrims. Therefore, the movement of Kanwar pilgrims (both pedestrians and accompanying vehicles) on the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is strictly restricted/limited, as it could endanger their safety and pose a risk to life and property.

**Designated Route for All Kanwar Pilgrims**
To ensure the safety of the Kanwar pilgrims, they are advised to follow the designated traditional routes:

Apsara Border – Shahdara Flyover Road – Seelampur T-point – ISBT Flyover (and the return route). Bhopura Border – Wazirabad Road – Loni Gol Chakkar Flyover – Gokulpuri T-point – 66-Foota Road – Seelampur T-point – NH-1 – New ISBT Bridge (and the return route). Loni Border – Loni Flyover, or Sonia Vihar Border – Pusta Road – Khajuri Flyover – Wazirabad Road (and the return route). Bhopura Border – Wazirabad Road – Wazirabad Bridge – Outer Ring Road, and the return route via the same path. Indirapuram Nala Road – Ghazipur Border – New Ashok Nagar – Pusta Road, and the return route via the same path.

Delhi Police appeals to Kanwar pilgrims.
The Delhi Traffic Police has appealed to all Kanwar pilgrims to strictly adhere to the issued traffic advisories and use only the designated traditional routes. Your cooperation will ensure that the Kanwar Yatra remains safe, smooth, and hassle-free for all devotees and other road users.
