We all travel and most people use cars for travel, if you drive a car then you must be aware of FASTag, it is an essential tool for toll payment. While many people know that FASTag is necessary for toll deduction, not everyone is aware of the rules for its use. These rules can help you avoid unnecessary toll payments, ensuring that you do not pay a single penny more than necessary. Let's know about these rules-
1. 10-second rule
In 2021, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) introduced an important guideline regarding waiting time at toll booths. According to this rule, if a car is stuck in the toll booth queue for more than 10 seconds, it should be allowed to pass without paying toll tax.
2. 100-metre rule
Apart from the 10-second waiting time, there is another important guideline you should be aware of: the 100-metre waiting line rule. According to the NHAI, the waiting line at any toll plaza should not exceed 100 metres. If it does, toll tax cannot be collected from vehicles standing in the queue.
3. What you can do if these rules are violated
If you ever find yourself in a situation where these rules are not being followed, you have the right to take action. If the toll employee is misbehaving with you or not letting you go despite violating these rules, you can lodge a complaint by calling the toll-free number 1033.
