Toll taxes have been increased starting yesterday at several toll plazas on national highways. According to the NHAI, car travelers and drivers of buses and trucks will have to pay higher toll charges at certain key toll plazas located on major national highways in Punjab and Haryana. Specifically, toll charges (user fees) have been revised at eight major toll plazas.
Where have toll taxes been increased?
The NHAI has raised toll taxes at eight toll plazas across Punjab and Haryana. The rate at the Kaljhar toll plaza, located near Sangrur, has also been increased.

Lehra Bega Toll Plaza (Tapa-Bathinda, NH-7)
Khuiyan Sarwar Toll Plaza (Malout-Abohar Bypass-Sadhuwali, NH-7)
Kalajhar Toll Plaza (Patiala Bypass, NH-64)

Which cities are most affected?
Under the new rates, there has been an increase of ₹5 to ₹10 for cars and Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) at most locations, while toll charges for buses and trucks have also been revised. New rates have been notified for over 50 toll plazas in these regions, although the hike is limited at most locations. The new rates will primarily impact daily commuters traveling on national highways connecting Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Faridkot, Bathinda, Abohar, Patiala, Maur, and Sangrur. In addition to private vehicle owners, the operating costs for bus and freight truck operators will also rise.
What are the applicable rates?
At the Ghulal toll plaza on the Chandigarh-Kharar-Ludhiana National Highway, the fee for cars and light vehicles will be ₹115 for a single journey and ₹170 for a round trip.
The toll fee will be ₹390 for buses and ₹580 for trucks.
At the Kot Karor toll plaza on the Amritsar-Tarn Taran-Harike-Faridkot-Bathinda National Highway-15, the fee for cars and light vehicles will be ₹50 for a single journey and ₹70 for a round trip.
On the same highway, buses and trucks will be charged ₹165 and ₹250, respectively.
At the Kala Tibba toll plaza, the toll tax for cars and light vehicles will be ₹50 (single journey) and ₹80 (round trip).
At the Sheikhupura toll plaza, the toll charge for cars and light motor vehicles has been set at ₹55 for a single journey and ₹85 for a round trip.
At the Sheikhupura toll plaza, the charges for buses and trucks will be ₹185 and ₹280, respectively.
