**Faster Ticket Booking**

From August 1, 2026, booking Tatkal tickets at railway reservation counters will become easier. West Central Railway (WCR) has launched this new token system to eliminate long queues and expedite the booking process. This initiative aims to reduce crowding at counters and make the booking process more efficient and transparent.

Long queues often form at railway reservation counters during Tatkal booking hours, forcing people to wait for hours. Under the new rules, passengers can collect a token at a scheduled time and return at that specific time to book their tickets. This will reduce crowding and waiting times, thereby simplifying the entire booking process.

**Timing for Tatkal Tickets**

The timing for the new token system has been aligned with the Tatkal ticket booking schedule. Tokens for AC Tatkal tickets will be issued between 8:30 AM and 9:00 AM, while tokens for non-AC Tatkal tickets will be issued between 9:00 AM and 9:30 AM. Once a passenger receives a token, they can go directly to the counter at the allotted time to book their ticket, eliminating the inconvenience of repeatedly standing in line.

**Tokens Available at Reservation Counters**
Initially, 10 tokens for AC Tatkal tickets and 15 tokens for non-AC tickets will be issued at each reservation counter. The Railways may increase or decrease this number based on demand and the volume of the crowd. If seats remain available after all token holders have completed their bookings, other passengers will be issued tickets on a 'First Come, First Served' basis.

**Keep Necessary Documents Ready**
If you are visiting a reservation counter to book a Tatkal ticket, ensure you carry your Aadhaar card or any other valid photo identity proof. Additionally, keep all necessary details—such as the names, ages, and travel information of the passengers—ready in advance. This will expedite the booking process and help avoid any inconvenience or delays at the counter.
