Today is the last day for LPG e-KYC; will your gas connection be disconnected?
Today, September 14, is the deadline for LPG e-KYC. If you haven't completed your KYC yet, will your gas connection be cut off? Let’s find out.
Do you have an LPG connection at home? If so, have you completed the e-KYC for it? If not, today—September 14—is the final deadline. Customers of Indane, HP Gas, and Bharat Gas have been given another opportunity to complete their Aadhaar-based biometric e-KYC. The e-KYC deadline has been extended five times. But do you know if your gas connection will be disconnected once this date passes? Let’s find out.
Will the gas connection be disconnected?
What happens after the e-KYC deadline passes?
Many people are wondering if their gas connection will be permanently shut down after this. However, it is not yet clear whether every customer who fails to complete e-KYC by September 14 will have their connection permanently disconnected or if they will be required to purchase cylinders at commercial rates.
Impact on services
According to some reports, failure to complete e-KYC by the deadline could affect LPG-related services. However, there is no clear information yet regarding the final action the government might take against such customers. Therefore, it is advisable for customers not to wait until the last moment and to complete their e-KYC as soon as possible.
Deadline changed multiple times
The deadline for LPG e-KYC has been changed five times previously. Before this, the deadline was September 7; prior to that, August 16, August 23, and August 31 had also been announced as deadlines. Currently, no new date has been announced beyond September 14, nor has there been any indication of what will happen next. It is worth noting that the objective of e-KYC is to verify that LPG connections are being used by genuine and legitimate customers.
How to complete LPG e-KYC?
If you haven't completed your e-KYC yet, you still have the opportunity to update it from the comfort of your home. You can do this by visiting your LPG company's digital platform. Alternatively, the process can be completed by visiting a local gas agency or distributor. Those filling out an offline form will need to provide their name, photograph, gas consumer number, date of birth, and the name of their father or mother. Additionally, details such as your full residential address, mobile number, email, and other contact information must be provided.
