Yes, Aadhaar card will be necessary while applying for PAN card from July 1. The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has shared information in this regard. The purpose of this step is to increase transparency and accountability by making the tax process digital. Along with this, if your PAN card is not linked to Aadhaar card, then it has also been instructed to link it as soon as possible.
New rule will be implemented from this date
Under the new rules, Aadhar card will be mandatory to get PAN Card from July 1. At present, any valid document related to date of birth, name and identity is accepted to get a PAN card. But from July 1, it will not be possible to get a PAN card without Aadhar card.
Link PAN card to Aadhaar before this date
Linking PAN Card to Aadhaar has now been made mandatory. Currently, while making a PAN card, users get the option to link it to Aadhaar. But now it will be necessary for everyone to link it within the stipulated time limit. Users can link PAN and Aadhaar without any penalty till 31 December 2025. After this, a penalty will have to be paid for linking.
How to link PAN Card to Aadhaar?
To link PAN Card to Aadhaar, one has to do it through the e-filing website of Income Tax. For this, follow the steps given below:
First of all go to the e-filing website of Income Tax.
Select the option of 'Link Aadhaar' on the website.
Now enter your PAN number and Aadhaar number.
After this, fill the mobile number that is registered with both PAN and Aadhaar.
Tick on "I agree to validate my Aadhaar details with UIDAI" and proceed.
After the process is completed, the message "PAN has been linked successfully" will appear on the screen.
