Apple Wearable Devices: Apple has devised ambitious plans for its wearable devices. The company aims to develop them as health and fitness companions.

Apple Wearable Devices: Apple has formulated a major plan regarding wearable technology. The company intends to develop smart glasses and other wearables to serve as health and fitness companions. This means Apple’s upcoming smart glasses and other wearables will feature capabilities that monitor every aspect of your health. Reports indicate that while Apple’s first-generation smart glasses might launch with basic functions, future versions are expected to include advanced health-tracking features. This implies that Apple could equip its smart glasses with advanced sensors, similar to those found in the Apple Watch.

Smart glasses to focus on health and fitness

Regarding Apple’s strategy, the company is considering incorporating multiple sensors into its smart glasses and AR headsets. These sensors would be capable of tracking body movement and other activity-related data. Simultaneously, the company aims to ensure these devices remain comfortable and portable. In essence, Apple wants to design them as fitness companions that monitor all health-related data without compromising on user comfort.

Apple is building a wearable ecosystem

According to media reports, Apple is in no rush regarding the development of these health and fitness-oriented products. Currently, the company is exploring how to integrate health sensors into smart glasses. The technology will only be launched to consumers after successfully passing all necessary tests. If this plan comes to fruition, future generations of Apple smart glasses will support health features, much like the Apple Watch and AirPods. Alongside these devices, Apple is also working on an AI pendant.

This device, similar in size to an AirTag, could feature a camera, microphone, and speakers, enabling user interaction. It is being designed for users who prefer not to wear smart glasses or AirPods. It could be worn around the neck like a necklace or clipped onto clothing. Like Apple, Meta is also developing a similar pendant. Work is also underway to equip AirPods with cameras.

Work Resumes on Previous Plans

Apple has previously considered equipping wearable devices with health sensors. The company initially planned to introduce such features in the Apple Vision Pro. A special version of Apple Fitness+ was being developed for this purpose, allowing Vision Pro users to monitor body movements in real-time during workouts; however, the plan was shelved due to technical hurdles. Now, Apple is preparing to incorporate these sensors into a glasses form factor, similar to the Vision Pro.

When Will Apple’s Smart Glasses Arrive?

Apple could launch its first-generation smart glasses by the end of next year. These smart glasses will feature oval-shaped cameras and launch in various unique colors and frame styles. Apple will manufacture the plastic frames for these glasses in-house. The company is currently testing several designs for its first-generation smart glasses, including large rectangular frames, slim rectangular designs, large circular frames, and small circular frames.

The company expects these glasses to establish themselves as health devices, with augmented reality (AR) technology potentially added later. In terms of features, they will launch with built-in cameras, microphones, and speakers. These are expected to feature Siri interaction, music playback, notifications, and turn-by-turn walking directions. The product could be priced between $200 and $500 (approximately ₹17,000 to ₹51,000). The price in India might be slightly higher.
