The Delhi government has recently launched several new schemes for the empowerment of women and daughters. The daughters of the capital will now be strengthened not only in education but also in economic and social security. The main objective of these schemes is to provide financial assistance to women and girls, ensure their safety, and promote their education. So let's find out how many schemes are available for women in Delhi and how much benefit is available under each one.
Delhi Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana: This scheme is a new and digital version of the earlier Delhi Ladli Yojana. Now, money will start getting deposited into the bank accounts of the daughters from their birth. Under this scheme, ₹11,000 will be deposited directly into the account at birth. The money will continue to accumulate during schooling. If the daughter completes a graduation or diploma, an additional ₹20,000 will be received. By the age of 21, this amount, including interest, can exceed ₹1 lakh. This scheme will secure the financial future of Delhi's daughters and pave the way for their higher education.
The Delhi government has launched the National Common Mobility Card (NCMS), also known as the Pink Card, for women. This card allows women to travel completely free on DTC buses. This card will also facilitate convenient payments on the Metro, Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTRS), and other public transport. There will be three types of cards: the Pink Card (for women), the Blue Card (for general passengers), and the Orange Card (for monthly pass holders). This initiative will help make women's travel safe and affordable.
Under the scheme, "My Capital, My Right," funds have been transferred directly to the bank accounts of old beneficiaries of the Delhi Ladli Yojana. A total of ₹100.25 crore was deposited into the accounts of 40,642 eligible beneficiaries. Its objective is to encourage the birth and education of girls and reduce gender inequality. Directly transferring funds to bank accounts ensures transparency and convenient access.
The Delhi government has launched a scheme to provide two free LPG cylinders a year to ration card-holding families. This financial assistance will be provided during Holi and Diwali. The first installment of ₹853 was transferred directly to the head of the family's account on Holi. This scheme will cost approximately ₹242 crore annually. This initiative will prove to be very helpful for poor and middle-class women and their families.
The Saheli Pink Smart Card has also been designed with women's convenience and safety in mind. It will enable women to easily use public transportation. Travel with the card will be safe, digital, and convenient. This is a major step towards empowering women's independence and self-reliance.
