CM Yogi Adityanath has directed the department to file a revision of the Supreme Court's order on the mandatory TET for serving teachers of the UP Basic Education Department.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the department to file a revision of the Supreme Court's order on the mandatory TET for serving teachers of Basic Education Department. CM Yogi has said that the teachers of the state are experienced and they have been provided training by the government from time to time, in such a situation it is not appropriate to ignore their qualifications and years of service.

Let us tell you that recently the Supreme Court had said in its order that passing the Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) will be mandatory for all new teachers and those teachers already working who want promotion. The court had clearly said that if a teacher wants a new job or promotion, then without passing the TET, no claim of his will be considered correct.

Relief to teachers with less than 5 years of service

The bench of Justice Dipankar Dutta and Justice Manmohan had said that teachers who have less than 5 years of service left will not need to pass the TET. They can remain on the job till retirement. However, if such teachers want to get promotion, then it will be mandatory for them to pass the TET.

2 years time to pass TET

The court had also directed that teachers who were appointed before the implementation of the Right to Education Act (2009) and who have more than 5 years of service left, will have to pass the TET within two years. If they are unable to do so, they will have to lose their job. Such teachers will get only terminal benefits.
