The wait is over for beneficiaries of the Delhi Laxmi Yojana; find out when and how to get the pension card..
Delhi Laxmi Yojana Latest News: A major update regarding the Delhi government's 'Laxmi Yojana' has emerged. The state government will begin transferring financial assistance of ₹2,500 per month to the accounts of eligible women starting September 1, 2026. While there was earlier speculation that the first installment might be released on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, the new official announcement states that the distribution of 'Acceptance Letters' for the scheme will commence on August 26, 2026.
Acceptance letters to be distributed at Talkatora Stadium on August 26
Large-scale preparations are underway in the capital to implement the scheme and ensure transparent distribution of the financial aid. In this regard, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has directed district-level committees to expedite the scrutiny and physical verification of all applications received so far. The administration's primary focus is ensuring that no eligible woman's application is stalled due to technical reasons. A grand state-level event will be held at Delhi's Talkatora Stadium on August 26, where beneficiaries will be formally presented with documents approving the financial aid—the acceptance letters. Additionally, following application verification, pension letters will also be distributed at the district level. Subsequently, the funds will be transferred directly to their bank accounts starting September 1.
8 lakh registrations in 18 days
There has been tremendous enthusiasm among women regarding the Delhi Laxmi Yojana portal. Since registrations opened on August 1, 2026, over 8 lakh women have registered. However, only about 5 lakh of them have successfully submitted their applications so far. Consequently, a correction window will soon be opened on the portal for women whose forms contain errors.
How the ₹2,500 payment will be made
The government has determined two separate payment options for the monthly financial assistance of ₹2,500 provided under the scheme. Under this scheme, a sum of ₹1,500 will be deposited directly into the beneficiary woman's bank account as a Recurring Deposit (RD) or Fixed Deposit (FD), subject to a lock-in period until July 31, 2029. Meanwhile, an amount of ₹1,000 will be provided digitally in the Reserve Bank of India’s Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) wallet for immediate spending. Beneficiaries also have the option to deposit the entire ₹2,500 amount directly into their bank RD or FD accounts for safekeeping.
The primary objective of the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana is to empower poor and needy women in the capital, improve their socio-economic status, and integrate them with modern financial services such as the Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC). Following the verification of applications from over 5 lakh women, these families will begin receiving regular financial assistance starting in September.
