PM Kisan 23rd Installment: A Major Change in the PM Kisan Scheme. ‘Farmer ID’ Made Mandatory Ahead of the 23rd Installment. Find Out When the Next Installment is Due and How Much Benefit Women Farmers Have Received So Far.

PM Kisan 23rd Installment: Great news is emerging for millions of farmers across the country under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM Kisan) scheme. Through official data, the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has reported that the government has, to date, directly transferred (DBT) a sum exceeding ₹4.28 lakh crore into the accounts of eligible farmers across 22 installments.

Notably, this scheme has played a pivotal role in making rural women economically self-reliant. According to the data, a sum of ₹1.10 lakh crore has been disbursed to approximately 2.17 crore women farmers so far—a significant stride towards women’s empowerment.

Probable Date for the Next Installment and Expert Predictions

Farmers are currently awaiting their 23rd installment. Although the Central Government has not yet officially announced a specific date for the release of this installment, experts—observing trends from previous years—believe that the sum of ₹2,000 could be credited to farmers’ accounts by the last week of June or by July 2026. Typically, the first installment of a financial year is disbursed between June and August; for instance, the 17th installment was released on June 18, 2024. Since Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan assumed office, the department has demonstrated considerable speed in completing these administrative processes.

‘Farmer ID’ Made Mandatory for New Registrations

To enhance transparency within the scheme and ensure that benefits reach only genuine beneficiaries, the government has introduced a major amendment to the rules. New farmers wishing to register on the portal are now required to obtain a unique ‘Farmer ID.’ No new applications will be accepted without this ID. This measure has been implemented with the objective of strengthening land verification processes and curbing fraudulent activities. This will ensure that government assistance reaches directly into the hands of those who are truly deserving of it.

Precautions Necessary to Avoid Disruptions

To receive the benefits of the 23rd installment without any hindrance, the government has advised farmers to complete certain technical formalities as soon as possible. It is mandatory for beneficiaries to keep their e-KYC updated, link their bank accounts with Aadhaar, and complete the land verification (Land Seeding) process. The ‘PM-Kisan Portal,’ actively managed by the government, has now emerged as a reliable platform—ranging from registration to accessing real-time assistance—thereby making it easier for farmers to track the status of their installments.
