On the second day of the two-day national rural development conference 'Gramoday se Rashtroday' (Rise of the Nation through the Rise of Villages) held in New Delhi, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan held extensive deliberations with rural development ministers from 29 states and Union Territories across the country. The conference not only reviewed existing schemes but also formulated concrete strategies to realize the vision of a 'Developed Village – Developed India' (Viksit Gram – Viksit Bharat) under the leadership and guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During the event, Chouhan also outlined the roadmap for the 'Viksit Bharat – G-RAM-G' scheme and the 'Lakhpati Didi' initiative.

**'Viksit Bharat – G-RAM-G' Scheme to Launch on July 1**
Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced that the 'Viksit Bharat – G-RAM-G' scheme would be implemented nationwide starting July 1, replacing MGNREGA. An interim approval of ₹95,682 crore has already been granted for this purpose. He urged states to complete the necessary formalities on time to ensure that the scheme's benefits reach the people seamlessly.

**What are the benefits of the 'Viksit Bharat – G-RAM-G' scheme?**
Currently, rural households are guaranteed 100 days of employment annually under MGNREGA. However, starting July 1, 2026, this limit will be increased to 125 days, meaning needy families will be able to secure 25 days of additional work compared to the previous arrangement. Furthermore, if employment is not provided within 15 days of application, the concerned individual will be entitled to an unemployment allowance.

**Who can avail the benefits of the scheme?**
Any rural household with adult members willing to undertake unskilled manual labor can benefit from this scheme. Individuals who do not currently possess an MGNREGA job card can apply at their Gram Panchayat to obtain a new rural employment guarantee card.

Scheme to make 6 crore women 'Lakhpati Didis'
During the conference, the 'Lakhpati Didi Dashboard' was launched, and a digital platform for women in self-help groups was inaugurated. Shivraj Singh announced that PM Modi has set a target to increase the number of 'Lakhpati Didis' from 3 crore to 6 crore, for which a bank-linking roadmap worth ₹10 lakh crore has been prepared for the next five years.
