Prime Minister Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana: With an allocation of Rs 24 thousand crore every year for six years, this scheme is trying to benefit 1.7 lakh crore farmers through things like crop irrigation, availability of loan, storage infrastructure.

Union Cabinet Decisions: On Wednesday, the Union Cabinet has approved Rs 50 thousand crore to accelerate the field of agriculture and renewable energy. Its focus will be on 100 selected districts, where the focus will be on increasing agricultural productivity. Along with this, there is an attempt to transition to the energy sector by funding PSUs.

What is PM Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana

Actually, Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY) was introduced during the Union Budget 2025-26, with the aim of bringing 36 already running schemes under 11 central ministries and focusing on 100 agriculture-based districts to develop them.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that these districts have been selected from areas with low agricultural productivity and lack of proper access to loans. At least one district has been selected from each district.

20 thousand crores to accelerate solar energy

The Union Cabinet has approved an investment of Rs 20,000 crore in NTPC Green Energy Limited, a subsidiary of NTPC, to accelerate green hydrogen, solar and wind based projects. The green energy portfolio is currently operational with a capacity of 6 GS and work is underway on 26GW. The target has been set to increase this to 60GW by 2023.
