The Mahtari Vandan Yojana in Chhattisgarh completes two years; PM Modi had released the first installment..
Mahtari Vandan Yojana: Chhattisgarh's Mahtari Vandan Yojana (Mother's Respect Scheme) is continuously achieving significant milestones in strengthening the economic security and self-reliance of women. The first installment of this scheme was released by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. So far, more than ₹15,595 crore has been transferred to the bank accounts of eligible women under this scheme. This fact itself demonstrates the extensive impact the scheme has had on the lives and economic stability of women. The state government says that this scheme is a strong foundation for making mothers and sisters self-reliant. Regular financial assistance has boosted women's confidence, and they are now playing a more effective role in family and societal decisions. Due to the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system, the benefits of the scheme are reaching even remote and Naxal-affected areas without any interruption.
A Big Change with ₹1,000 Every Month
Under the scheme, women are receiving ₹1,000 every month directly into their bank accounts. Although this amount may seem small, the regular payments have brought about significant improvements in women's daily lives. Meeting household needs has become easier, the habit of saving has strengthened, and their involvement in financial decisions has increased.
Many women in rural and urban areas are using this amount to start small businesses. From making artificial jewelry and producing papads and food items to running beauty and cosmetic shops, all this shows that with the right policies and support, women are creating their own economically independent identities.
A Strong Support System for Family Security
This scheme is also proving to be a safety net for the working class, small farmers, and families with limited incomes. The worries about children's education, medical treatment, and emergency expenses are no longer as prevalent. Many women have started saving and planning for the future. The smooth implementation of the scheme, even in Naxal-affected districts like Sukma, Bijapur, Kanker, Dantewada, and Narayanpur, is a major testament to its success.
Niyad Nella Nar Scheme Connects 7,763 Women
To further expand the scheme, 7,763 new women have been added through the Niyad Nella Nar scheme. The Women and Child Development Department stated that this initiative is further strengthening women's dignity, self-confidence, and social participation. They instructed officials to ensure that benefits reach every eligible woman on time and with transparency.
24th Installment Released, Millions of Women Directly Benefited
The 24th installment of the Mahtari Vandan Yojana was released by the Chief Minister at a state-level program held in Narayanpur. On this occasion, an amount of Rs. 641.34 crore was transferred to the bank accounts of 68,39,592 women across the state through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer). After the 24th installment, the total amount distributed under the scheme has increased to Rs. 15,595.77 crore. In Narayanpur district, Rs. 2.72 crore was transferred to the accounts of 27,272 beneficiaries. The government claims that this financial assistance is strengthening women's dignity, sense of security, and self-reliance.
Mahtari Vandan Yojana Becomes an Example of Transformation
Experiences of women from several districts of the state have come to light. Bahura Kaushik and her daughter-in-law, Savita Kaushik, from the Rampur area of Korba district have received a total of Rs. 24,000 in 24 installments. Both say that the timely assistance has made it easier to manage household expenses and reduced financial dependence during times of need. According to the women, this scheme has increased their respect and confidence within the family.
