Harmanpreet Singh was born and grew up in Timmowal village of Amritsar district of Punjab. He did his early studies from the village's Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS), Timmowal. This was the place where the foundation of his education was laid.
Along with studies in the village, Harmanpreet's heart was in the hockey field. From his school days, he started paying special attention to the game. Family and teachers also recognized and encouraged his passion.
After completing school, Harmanpreet moved to College of Arts, Chandigarh for further studies.
Here he continued his education and also kept working hard in hockey. It was not easy to balance both studies and sports, but Harmanpreet maintained this balance very well.
The real turning point in Harmanpreet's life came when he got admission in Surjit Hockey Academy, Jalandhar. This academy is known for honing hockey talent in India.
