National Talent Scholarship: The National Talent Scholarship (Undergraduate) is implemented to provide financial assistance to meritorious students pursuing undergraduate studies in Agriculture and Allied Disciplines. The primary objective of this scheme is to offer financial support to talented students studying at universities.
This scholarship is initially awarded for one year from the date of admission and is renewable for the entire duration of the degree, subject to satisfactory academic performance and good conduct. Selected students receive financial assistance of ₹3,000 per month during their Bachelor's degree course. It should be noted that no separate contingency grant is provided under this scheme in addition to the monthly stipend of ₹3,000.
Eligibility and Conditions for the Scholarship
The candidate must be pursuing an undergraduate degree in Agriculture or allied subjects. The student must have secured admission through the All India Entrance Examination (AIEE) conducted by ICAR. It is mandatory for the student to be enrolled in an agricultural university located outside their home state. The student must be studying at an agricultural university funded under ICAR's scheme for the 'Strengthening and Development of Higher Agricultural Education in India'.
Key Conditions for Continuing the Scholarship
A minimum OGPA of 7.00/10.00 is required at the end of the first year; for SC/ST category students, the requirement is 6.50/10.00. Regular class attendance is mandatory (no unauthorized absence), and the student must maintain good conduct certified by the institute. The student must be pursuing full-time studies and not be employed or availing benefits from any other scholarship. Changing the university or the allotted subject during the scholarship period is prohibited.
How to Apply Online
Applications are submitted online via the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). To apply, please follow the process outlined below. New Registration on the NSP Portal
Visit the 'New Registration' page of the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). Read the guidelines carefully, accept the terms and conditions, and verify your mobile number using the OTP.
Generating the One-Time Registration (OTR) ID
Download the 'AadhaarFaceRD' and 'NSP OTR' apps from the Google Play Store. Select the 'eKYC with Face Auth' option within the app, and enter your reference number along with the OTP received on your mobile. Complete the face verification process by clicking 'Proceed for Face Authentication'; this will generate your OTR number.
Filling the Form and Final Submission
Log in to the NSP portal using your OTR number and password. Reset your password using the OTP received on your registered mobile number and navigate to the dashboard. Go to the 'Application Form' section, fill in all mandatory details, upload the required documents, and click on 'Final Submit'.
Required Documents
Recent passport-sized photograph; applicant's signature and thumb impression; proof of admission via AIEE; identity details and linked bank account information; and other certificates prescribed by the concerned university or ICAR.
After submitting the application, you can check your payment status via the 'Know Your Payment' feature on the Public Financial Management System (PFMS) portal.
