Meanwhile, news is coming out that the government is preparing to bring the Universal Pension Scheme for the common citizens. The purpose behind bringing this pension scheme is to give the benefit of pension to people working in the unorganized sector like construction workers, domestic workers and gig workers. If this scheme is implemented, crores of people of the country will get great relief.
There will be no contribution from the government
According to a report by NDTV, this pension scheme will have the facility of voluntary contribution and there will be no financial contribution from the government. However, this scheme can incorporate existing pension schemes, which can be an important step to improve the savings and pension structure run by the government. Apart from this, this universal pension scheme can also include the existing 'New Pension Scheme' (NPS), so that the pension system can be implemented in a better way.
An NDTV report said that this scheme is being called 'New Pension Scheme' and it can be proposed under this name. The report further said that after the proposal document is completed, the concerned people will be consulted.
At present, these are the two pension schemes
Let us tell you that at present 'New Pension System' (NPS) is available for all the people of the country between the age of 18 to 70 years. Indians living abroad (NRIs) can also join this scheme. Apart from this, companies can also give the benefit of this scheme to their employees.
Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan Pension Scheme
Apart from this, the government has also started Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojana for workers of unauthorised sectors. Only those people can avail the benefits of this scheme, who do not come under the New Pension Scheme (NPS), Employees State Insurance Corporation or Income Tax. Under this scheme, beneficiaries will get Rs 3,000 as pension after the age of 60 years. If the beneficiary dies, his family will get the benefit of 50% pension. At the same time, if a person has made regular contribution in this scheme and dies before 60 years, then in such a situation the wife can continue contributing to the scheme.
