The Uttar Pradesh government also runs the Chief Minister's Kanya Sumangala Yojana. Under this scheme, girls born in the state are provided financial assistance at various stages for their education, from school to college.

The central government and state governments are implementing several different schemes for the education and future of girls. To ensure that girls receive education and are not hindered, these schemes include "Beti Padhao Beti Bachao" (Educate the Girl Child) and "Beti Bachao" (Save the Girl Child).

The Uttar Pradesh government also runs the Chief Minister's Kanya Sumangala Yojana. Under this scheme, girls born in the state are provided financial assistance at various stages for their education, from school to college. The special thing is that this assistance is sent directly to the beneficiary's bank account via DBT, ensuring no hassles in availing the benefits of this scheme.

What is the Kanya Sumangala Yojana?

Under the Kanya Sumangala Yojana, financial assistance is provided to daughters in Uttar Pradesh in six installments. It begins at the birth of a daughter, and the final installment is received when she enrolls in a college or diploma course after completing 12th grade. Initially, this scheme provided a grant of ₹15,000, but the government has now increased it to ₹25,000.

How much money is provided in each phase of the scheme?

Under the Chief Minister's Kanya Sumangala Yojana, a grant of ₹5,000 is provided upon the birth of a daughter in Uttar Pradesh. This is followed by a grant of ₹2,000 upon completion of her vaccinations within one year. A grant of ₹3,000 is provided upon admission to the first grade. A further ₹3,000 is provided upon admission to the sixth grade. Under this scheme, a grant of ₹5,000 is provided upon admission to 9th grade, and ₹7,000 upon admission to a college or diploma course after 12th grade. This total amount per daughter is ₹25,000, which can be invested in educational expenses or future plans, if needed.

Who can avail of this scheme?

Only daughters residing in Uttar Pradesh can avail of the Chief Minister Kanya Sumangala Yojana. This scheme covers daughters whose family's annual income is less than ₹3 lakh. Furthermore, a maximum of two daughters per family can benefit from this scheme. If there is already one daughter and twins are born, all three can benefit from this scheme. Adopted daughters are also eligible for this scheme.

How to apply for the Kanya Sumangala Yojana

Applying for the Kanya Sumangala Yojana can be done both online and offline. To take advantage of this scheme, you must register by visiting the official website, mksy.up.gov.in.

First-time users must complete the registration process and create an ID and password.

Then, the application can be submitted by filling in the required information and uploading documents.

After the application is completed, the amount is transferred to the beneficiary's account in installments.
