Starting in November, users will only need to visit an enrollment center for biometric updates like fingerprint and iris scans; the rest of the process can be completed from home using the app. This will not only save time but also reduce cases of identity fraud.

Which documents will be added to the e-Aadhaar app?

To make this app even more convenient, the UIDAI will also add the ability to auto-fetch documents from government sources. This means that when a user updates their Aadhaar, the app will automatically pull information from certified government databases. This will include birth certificates, PAN cards, passports, driving licenses, ration cards (PDS), MNREGA records, and even electricity bills. This feature will not only simplify updates but also ensure the accuracy of addresses and other information.

In addition, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) recently launched the Aadhaar Good Governance Portal. This portal is designed to simplify and expedite the approval process for Aadhaar-related authentication requests. This will increase transparency in Aadhaar-related services.
