The Delhi government has decided to provide direct financial assistance to eligible families for Holi. The government will not send free cylinders to homes, but will instead transfer an amount of ₹853 directly to the beneficiaries' bank accounts.

The festival of Holi is here. With the arrival of Holi, preparations for the festival accelerate in homes across the country. However, along with colors and sweets, this festival also increases kitchen expenses. The price of gas cylinders, in particular, impacts the budget of ordinary families. Amidst rising inflation and household expenses, the government in the capital, Delhi, has taken a major decision. In fact, the Delhi and Uttar Pradesh governments have implemented special schemes to provide relief to poor and needy families. In response to rising kitchen expenses, the governments of both states are providing direct financial benefits to millions of people this Holi through free gas cylinders and gas subsidies. So, let us tell you today about the free cylinders the Delhi government is offering for Holi and who can benefit from it.

How can you avail yourself of the free cylinder in Delhi?

The Delhi government has decided to provide direct financial assistance to eligible families for Holi. The government will not send free cylinders to their homes, but will instead transfer an amount of ₹853 directly to the beneficiaries' bank accounts so they can refill their cylinders as needed. A budget of approximately ₹242 crore has been allocated for this scheme. It is estimated that approximately 1.75 million ration card-holding families in the capital will benefit from this scheme. Households with pipeline gas connections will also receive an honorarium of ₹853.

Who in Delhi will not benefit?

Only families with valid ration cards in Delhi will benefit from the government's free cylinder scheme for Holi. In Uttar Pradesh, only families covered under the Ujjwala Yojana will receive free refills. Taxpayers, government employees, and retired government employees will be excluded from the scheme. Furthermore, it is mandatory to link your bank account to Aadhaar to avail the scheme.

Free Refills for Ujjwala Beneficiaries in Uttar Pradesh

While the Delhi government is providing financial assistance of Rs. 853 for free cylinders on Holi, the Uttar Pradesh government has announced free cylinder refills for families covered under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana before Holi. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has clarified that this facility will be provided on both Holi and Diwali. Beneficiaries under this scheme will first purchase the cylinder and make the payment. Subsidy or the full amount will then be transferred to their bank accounts.
