Tech Tips: These 4 emergency features of iPhone can save your life, know how to use them..

Apple devices are considered to be among the most advanced technologies in the world. These technologies not only improve your on-device experience but also prove to be helpful in real-life emergencies. We have heard many stories where an iPhone or an Apple Watch saved a user's life. Apple is improving these features in every new device, but these features are beneficial only when you know the right way to use them, and they are also turned on in the device. In this article, we will know about four such emergency iPhone and Apple Watch features, which can be very useful for you in any emergency.
1. Emergency SOS- Through the Emergency SOS feature, you can quickly and easily call emergency services (eg, police, ambulance) and alert your emergency contacts. In India, if you press the side button of the iPhone three times quickly, it connects directly to the emergency service.
Other ways to make an SOS call- Press the side button and volume button together for a few seconds, then swipe the Emergency SOS slider shown on the screen to the right. Or press and hold both buttons until the countdown and alarm start on the screen, after which the phone will automatically make an SOS call.
2. Crash Detection- If you are driving and an accident happens, the iPhone or Apple Watch can automatically call the emergency service. This feature is available in these devices...
iPhone 14 or newer models
Apple Watch Series 8 or newer
Apple Watch SE (Gen 2)
Apple Watch Ultra or a newer version
How the feature works- When an accident is detected, the device sounds an alarm and starts a countdown. If the user does not respond, the device automatically calls the emergency number. This feature cannot detect every type of accident.
3. Setting up emergency contacts
Apart from Emergency SOS, you can set people near you as emergency contacts. For this, go to the Settings of your iPhone, search “Emergency SOS”, select the option “Edit Emergency Contacts in Health” in the Health app. Here you can add or edit contacts or directly open the Health app → tap on the profile icon → go to Medical ID → add contacts by tapping “Edit”. Whenever an SOS call is made, notification is also sent via SMS to your selected emergency contacts.
4. Emergency SOS via satellite
If you are in a place where there is no mobile network or Wi-Fi connection, you can still ask for help with the Satellite SOS feature in iPhone 14 or iPhone 15.
Features of this feature
You can send emergency messages via satellite.
Contact is possible even in the absence of a network.
Apple also gives the option to trial this feature as a user demo, so that you can become familiar with its use in advance.
