What to do if you make a mistake:
Access the e-filing portal: Start by visiting the e-filing portal of the Income Tax Department. Log in using your credentials.
Go to the e-file tab: After logging in, click on the 'e-file' tab. From there, select the 'e-verify return' option in your Income Tax Return (ITR) section.
Select the Discard option: A new page will appear showing your unverified ITR. Here, you will see two options: 'e-Verify' and 'Skip'. Click on 'Skip'.
Important points to note:
Availability of Skip option: The 'Skip' option is available only if you have not verified your ITR yet. Once the return is verified, the 'Skip' option will no longer be available.
Multiple uses: You can use the 'Skip' option as many times as required before verification. This allows you to make corrections until you are sure your return is accurate.
Verify after correction: Before finalizing your return, make sure you have corrected all the mistakes. Verify your return only after double-checking to avoid any issues.
