Apart from this, only 6 tickets can be booked in a month from a single IRCTC user ID, but if your account is linked to Aadhaar, you can book 12 tickets.

Tatkal ticket fares vary according to the class of travel. A minimum of ₹10 and a maximum of ₹15 is charged for second seating, while for sleeper class it can range from ₹100 to ₹200. The charge for an AC chair car can be between ₹125 to ₹225, for AC 3 tier it can be between ₹300 to ₹400, and for AC 2 tier it can be between ₹400 to ₹500. For those traveling in executive class, the charge can also be between ₹400 to ₹500.

Refund and cancellation rules

There is no refund on the cancellation of a Tatkal ticket, but there is a provision for a refund in certain situations. Like:

If the train is delayed by more than three hours.

If the route of the train changes and the passenger does not want to travel.

If the passenger is given a seat in a class lower than his class and he does not want to travel in that class.
