Tatkal Ticket Booking: Big decision of Railways, now only these users will get the chance to book in the first 10 minutes..

Indian Railways has made a big change in the rules of Tatkal ticket booking, due to which lakhs of passengers will now have to update their IRCTC profile. If your IRCTC account is still not linked to your Aadhar card, then it may be difficult for you to book a Tatkal ticket next time. The new rule of Railways is especially for those people who book tickets daily from mobile or laptop and want to get confirmed seats quickly. Now Tatkal ticket will be available only to those whose account is linked to Aadhar.
Tatkal ticket booking will be easy if the IRCTC account is linked to the Aadhar.
Railways has made it clear that in the first 10 minutes of Tatkal ticket booking, only those users will be able to book tickets, whose IRCTC account is linked to Aadhar. That is, now even authorized agents will not be able to book tickets in this window.
Preparation to curb fake booking
The purpose of this decision is to curb fake bookings. According to reports, out of about 13 crore users of IRCTC, only 1.2 crore users' account is linked to Aadhar. Now the railways are asking other users to link their Aadhaar as soon as possible, otherwise, such accounts can also be deactivated.
Railways keeping a close watch on fake ticket booking
According to the railways, on average 2.25 lakh people book Tatkal tickets every day. A large number of these accounts are created without Aadhaar verification and through which suspicious bookings are made. The railways have put about 20 lakh such accounts under investigation.
Understand from the figures how fast Tatkal tickets are sold.
Between May 24 and June 2, 1.08 lakh Tatkal tickets were booked in AC class alone, of which 5,615 tickets were booked in the first minute, 22,827 tickets in the second minute, and 67,159 tickets were booked within 10 minutes. That is, 62.5% of the tickets were sold in the first 10 minutes only. On average, 1.18 lakh tickets are booked every day in the non-AC class. Of these, 66.4% of tickets are sold out in the first 10 minutes.
Aadhaar can also be applied to counter-tickets
If sources are to be believed, soon the Railways may make Aadhaar verification mandatory for Tatkal tickets booked from the counter. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has hinted at this and said that only after e-Aadhaar verification the real passenger will be given a confirmed ticket.
How to link an IRCTC account with Aadhaar?
If you have not linked Aadhaar yet, then follow the easy steps given below—
Go to www.irctc.co.in
Log in by entering username-password
Go to the 'My Account' section
Click on 'Link Your Aadhaar'
Enter the Aadhaar number and name.
Verify by entering OTP and clicking on 'Update'
After this, your account will be successfully linked to Aadhaar.
Why is this change necessary?
Railways want train ticket booking to be more transparent and secure so that fake users can be removed and genuine passengers can get priority in ticket booking. If you want that there is no interruption in your ticket booking, then immediately link your IRCTC account with Aadhaar.
This rule is not only about improving booking but is also related to the identity and security of passengers. Now only those people will be able to book tickets whose identity is real and verified.
