What is e-Aadhaar authentication?

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav recently said that soon e-Aadhaar authentication will be necessary while booking Tatkal tickets. This will be a kind of verification, which will be done through the Aadhaar card of the person booking the ticket. It is being brought to prevent illegal ticket booking by brokers. Let us tell you that often while booking Tatkal tickets, Tatkal tickets used to be sold from the IRCTC website within a few minutes. This was due to the illegal booking of tickets by brokers. Now the government has cracked down on this.

What will be the method?

After the implementation of this new method, every passenger will have to verify his identity digitally. For this, an Aadhaar card will have to be used. After which the user will get an OTP and without this OTP, the Tatkal ticket will not be able to be booked. This will prevent incidents of fake booking and buying tickets through bots. The special thing about this new system will be that for the first 10 minutes, only those passengers will be able to book Tatkal tickets whose IRCTC account is linked to Aadhaar. During these 10 minutes, IRCTC agents will not be allowed to make bookings. This step of the government will provide great relief to the common man.

Link Aadhaar to IRCTC in this way

After this change, you will have to keep some things in mind while booking Tatkal tickets online from IRCTC. First of all, link your IRCTC account with your Aadhaar card. For this:

Go to IRCTC website www.irctc.co.in

Log in by entering your username and password.

Go to 'My Account' and click on the top right.

Select the option 'Link Your Aadhaar'

Enter your Aadhaar number and name as it is on the Aadhaar card.

Verify the OTP you will receive on your Aadhaar-linked mobile.

Click on the 'Update' button, the verification will be completed.

After this, a confirmation will appear on the screen and your account will be linked.

Keep these Aadhaar services active

Apart from this, keep the main mobile number linked with your Aadhaar card so that you can easily get OTP from IRCTC. If your phone number is not linked with the Aadhaar card, then you will have to go to the Aadhaar center and update your number.
