Taxi Latest Rules: Taking into account the growing arbitrary conduct of Ola and Uber, the UP government has taken a very strict decision. Under the new regulations, a ride will now be completely cancelled if there is a delay of just 10 minutes.

Taxi Service Rules: The Uttar Pradesh government has taken a major decision to implement strict regulations to curb the arbitrary practices of app-based taxi services—such as Ola and Uber—while simultaneously prioritizing passenger safety. Consequently, if a driver is delayed by more than 10 minutes, the scheduled ride will be cancelled entirely.

1. Cancellation and Fines for Delays

In fact, according to the new rules, if a driver is delayed by more than 10 minutes after a booking has been confirmed, the ride will not only be cancelled, but a hefty fine may also be imposed on the driver. Furthermore, the affected passenger will be offered a discount on the fare for their next booking.

2. Online Verification is Mandatory

Moreover, the new regulations now make it mandatory for every cab company operating within the state to undergo online verification. Additionally, it will be compulsory for drivers to produce a valid license, undergo police verification, and pass a medical test. Drivers who fail to comply with these rules will not be permitted to operate a taxi.

3. Special Focus on Safety and a ‘Zero Tolerance’ Policy

Furthermore, special provisions have been incorporated into the new rules to ensure the safety of female passengers. Under these provisions, if a driver is caught operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or narcotics, their registration will be permanently revoked without any delay. Additionally, to prevent the operation of aging vehicles on the roads, a maximum age limit for cab vehicles has now been established under these regulations.

4. Fare Structure for Passengers

Finally, regarding the fares charged to passengers, a minimum fare equivalent to a distance of 3 kilometers will be applicable. Additionally, drivers utilizing their personal vehicles for taxi services will receive 80 percent of the total fare; this measure aims to ensure that drivers do not face any financial or operational difficulties while performing their duties.
