If you wish to pursue higher education but are facing financial constraints, this news is highly relevant for you.
The government runs several scholarship schemes for female students aspiring to pursue higher education. These schemes aim to encourage young women from economically disadvantaged backgrounds to continue their studies. Let us look at the schemes available for postgraduate (PG) studies.
The UGC's 'PG Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl Child' scheme is quite popular among female students. This scheme is designed for students who are the only child of their parents and are pursuing a regular Master's degree at a recognized institution.
Under this scheme, eligible students receive financial assistance of ₹36,200 per year for a duration of two years. Applicants must be under 30 years of age at the time of application. The objective of the scheme is to encourage young women to pursue higher education and to promote the education of girls within families.
Meanwhile, the AICTE Pragati Scholarship Scheme offers valuable opportunities for female students pursuing technical education.
Administered by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), this scheme provides financial assistance of up to ₹50,000 per year to female students enrolled in engineering, technical degree, and diploma courses.
This amount can be used for college fees, books, computers, and other academic requirements. The scheme is available to students whose family's annual income is less than ₹8 lakh. Additionally, a maximum of two daughters from a single family are eligible for this scheme.
Furthermore, the Department of Science and Technology (DST) runs several special fellowship schemes for women studying subjects such as Science, Technology, Biotechnology, Pharmacy, and other STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) disciplines.
