The current RBI Governor is Shaktikanta Das. Sanjay Malhotra will assume this position from December 11, 2024. According to reports, the new Governor will receive a salary of ₹2.5 lakh per month. This amount is only part of his basic salary. The RBI Governor also receives several benefits from the government, including free accommodation, a car, medical facilities, and a pension.
The RBI Governor is also provided with a large house in Malabar Hill, Mumbai. However, overall, the SBI Chairman's salary is much higher than that of the RBI Governor.

Sanjay Malhotra is a 1990 batch IAS officer of the Rajasthan cadre. He earned a computer science engineering degree from IIT Kanpur and then a master's degree in public policy from Princeton University in the United States.
