Government Subsidy of ₹5 Lakh
The government provides financial assistance and various incentives to those who establish a Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Jan Aushadhi Kendra (PMBJK). This assistance is provided not as a direct cash subsidy, but in the form of monthly benefits and one-time additional support for specific categories, which can total up to ₹5 lakh. Full details regarding the financial assistance provided under this scheme are given below.
Monthly Incentive
Center operators receive a 20 percent incentive on the total monthly procurement of medicines, subject to a maximum limit of ₹20,000 per month. In addition, operators also receive a 20 percent commission on the MRP of the medicines.
One-time assistance of Rs 2 lakh for special categories
If a new center is opened by an eligible individual or within a designated special category, the government provides an additional refund or reimbursement of up to Rs 2 lakh. This scheme is available to women entrepreneurs, persons with disabilities, individuals from Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST), and ex-servicemen. Furthermore, this benefit is extended to operators in specific regions—such as the Northeastern states, hilly or Himalayan areas, island territories, and 'aspirational districts' identified by NITI Aayog. Within this Rs 2 lakh, Rs 50,000 is allocated for shop interiors, furniture, and fixtures. Additionally, Rs 50,000 is provided for essential technical infrastructure, including computers, printers, scanners, and internet connectivity.
