SSB Top Officer: Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) is a central armed police force of India, which is deployed to protect the India-Nepal and India-Bhutan borders. The highest officer of SSB is the Director General (DG). The Director General is the head of SSB and leads all the activities of the force. This force also comes under CAPF.
A total of 7 forces come under CAPF. These include BSF, ITBP, Assam Rifles, and SSB deployed to protect the country's borders. At the same time, NSG, CISF, and CRPF also come under CAPF. All these forces are under the Ministry of Home Affairs. Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) was established on 15 March 1963. This was done after the Indo-China War of 1962. The first woman Director General of SSB was Archana Ramasundraam. Currently, Daljit Singh Chaudhary is working as the DG of SSB.
Apart from border security, SSB also participates in disaster relief and rescue operations, internal security, and anti-Naxal operations. SSB is the first border guard force to have decided to recruit women battalions. The DG of SSB is provided with all facilities. These include accommodation, vehicle, medical facility, etc.
