This decision is awaited by lakhs of government employees, who are expected to get relief from rising inflation.
Possibility of a 3% increase in dearness allowance

Previous DA hike
Earlier in January 2024, DA was increased by 4%, which made DA 50%. DA is revised twice a year, this second increase will help employees more in dealing with inflation.
Why is the meeting important?
The special meeting of the Cabinet to be held on October 3 is important for central employees because in this the DA hike will be finalized and the process of payment of arrears will be discussed. This announcement before the festive season can become a big relief for central employees.
