Snapchat is in trouble, Instagram launches Map, Reposts and Friends feature..

Instagram Latest Feature: Instagram has launched many new features worldwide, many of which are already present on rival platforms like TikTok and Snapchat. These new features include Instagram Map, Reposts, and Friends tab in Reels. With the help of the Map feature, users can see the location of their friends and explore new places. With the Reposts feature, users can re-share their favorite posts on their profile. With the Friends feature, users can connect even better with their close friends. Through these new features, Instagram is trying to give an even better experience to its users. Instagram believes that these features will motivate users to spend more time on the platform.
Instagram Map Feature
The new Instagram Map is similar to Snapchat's Snap Map, but there are some important differences. It allows users to share their recent active location and discover location-based content.
How it works:
Users can use this feature to find out from which location their friends and creators have shared or posted content. The Map feature also allows users to leave short messages, like the Notes feature.
Unlike Snapchat, Instagram's location feature only updates when the user opens the app; it does not do real-time location tracking. This is different from the app's location-sharing feature, which allows users to share their location via direct messages for up to an hour.
Instagram Map will be available at the top of the direct message inbox. It launched in the U.S. on August 7 and will soon be available in India.
Instagram 'Reposts' feature
The new Reposts feature is similar to Retweets on X (formerly Twitter) and is a direct copy of a feature on TikTok. It allows users to repost public Reels and feed posts. The reposted content will appear in a separate "Reposts" tab on the user's profile.
To use this feature, users simply have to tap on the repost icon and can add a note to the post through the thought bubble that appears on the screen.
New 'Friends' tab in Reels
Instagram has also launched a new Friends tab in Reels globally, which is already available in the U.S. In this tab, users can see public Reels liked, commented, reposted or created by their friends. Users who prefer private browsing can opt out of showing their interactions in this tab.
