Cyber fraud is taking a new dimension in this digital age. People who are interested in watching pornographic videos, especially content related to children, are now becoming targets of cyber gangs. These gangs are exploiting their victims very efficiently and in such a way that they are psychologically scared.

Cyber scams are changing forms in the modern digital age. A new method of fraud that has just emerged is duping people by scaring them with false allegations, such as you are watching child pornography videos, or are involved in drug and money laundering cases. Recently, such incidents have increased in Hyderabad.

The letter came on WhatsApp in the name of the Union Home Ministry! A youth from LB Nagar received a fake letter on WhatsApp in the name of the Union Home Ministry. It warned, "We have identified you through your IP address, a case has been registered in the cyber lab for watching child pornography videos, if you do not respond within 24 hours, Delhi Police will take action.

The youth panicked after seeing this message, but when he investigated the matter thinking that he did not have the habit of watching such videos, it was found that it was a fraud spread by fake gangs.

In another incident, a retired government employee of the city received a call. The caller said that you are involved in drug cases and money laundering and we want your Aadhaar card number. Out of fear, he gave his Aadhaar number.

Later they threatened him saying that they have data that shows he was watching porn videos and extorted Rs 1.5 lakh. After this, he approached the police, with doubts whether this call was real or not, but it turned out to be a complete fraud.

What is the goal of such scamming? : Cyber gangs create scenes that show psychological weakness and immediately make the victims aware of the situation. They force them to react. They intimidate them by insulting them, threatening legal action, using the names of official organizations (CBI, NCB, Cyber Cell, MHA, etc.), asking for Aadhaar, PAN, and OTP, and using personal data to extort money.

How to protect yourself from such scams? : If you receive such messages or phone calls, do not panic. Police or government departments do not send letters directly on WhatsApp. Trust only official information. Always check and verify emails with domains like .gov.in, .nic.in. Never share your Aadhaar number, OTP, or password.

The police also advise that if you come across any such thing, immediately report it to 1930 (Cyber Helpline) or the website https://cybercrime.gov.in. "Do not take any decision out of fear. Identify the fraudsters - information is security! Becoming a victim of cyber fraud is not only due to illiteracy but also due to lack of awareness. In such ambiguous situations, act wisely and do not take any step without official information.
