Rules to change from August 1

The start of a new month often brings various changes. In this context, women living in Delhi are set to receive a benefit from the government starting August 1, as the rules for the 'Saheli Pink Card' are being revised. With these changes, women will be able to use the card for more than just travel; it will have additional utility.

What is changing?

The Delhi government has made a new announcement regarding the 'Saheli Pink Card,' with several changes set to take effect from August 1. These are as follows:

From August 1, paper pink tickets will be completely discontinued.
Carrying the 'Pink Saheli Card' will be mandatory to avail the benefit of free travel.
It will be mandatory to tap the card on the machine upon boarding the bus.
If you do not have this card, you will not be eligible for free travel and will have to pay the fare.
Women will continue to receive paper pink tickets on buses until July 31.

Where can the card be used?

This card is no longer limited to bus travel; it will now facilitate other services as well, such as:

In addition to DTC and Cluster buses, the card can also be used for the Metro.
The card will enable cashless payments for Metro travel. You will now be able to travel on the Namo Bharat (RRTS) service after recharging this card.
This card can also be used to make digital payments.

How to apply for the 'Pink Saheli Card'?

If you have not yet availed yourself of this facility and do not use the card, apply for it before August 1st. Here is how you can get the card made:

The card can be obtained at DTC depots, SDM offices, and over 50 authorized centers.
An Aadhaar card (proving Delhi residency) is mandatory to get the card made.
You must also have the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar card with you.
Many centers also require a passport-sized photograph.
The card will be issued following Aadhaar-linked OTP or biometric verification.
