Immediate action can be taken against any passenger who enters a women's coach without authorization. Initially, a fine of up to ₹500 may be imposed. However, if the violation is proven, the fine amount can go up to ₹2,500.
Furthermore, if a passenger refuses to pay the fine, the penalty amount can rise to ₹5,000. Therefore, before boarding a coach during your train journey, always check which category of passengers it is reserved for.
What are the rules for transgender passengers?
The Railways has shared a post on its official X platform clarifying the position regarding transgender individuals. It has been stated that this rule does not apply to transgender persons who fall under the definition provided in the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019.
