Gold prices have seen a sharp decline ahead of Dhanteras. Compared to the last trading session on Friday, gold prices today, Monday, have fallen by more than ₹3,000.

If you are considering investing in gold or silver before Dhanteras, this is an excellent opportunity, as both metals have experienced a substantial price drop. While the price of 24-carat gold ranged between ₹1,42,260 and ₹1,42,410 per 10 grams on Friday, it has now fallen to a range of ₹1,38,880 to ₹1,39,520. This represents a significant decrease of approximately ₹2,900 to ₹3,300.

The price of 22-carat gold has also decreased today. On Friday, it was priced between ₹1,30,410 and ₹1,30,540 per 10 grams; today, Monday, it stands at ₹1,27,310 to ₹1,27,890. Consequently, customers can save about ₹2,600 to ₹3,100 per 10 grams.

How much have silver prices fallen?

Like gold, silver prices have also seen a decline today. On Friday, silver closed at ₹2,10,000 per kilogram in most cities across the country, whereas today, Monday, the price is ₹2,00,000 per kilogram—a drop of ₹10,000. Similarly, the price of 10 grams of silver has fallen by ₹100—down from Friday’s price of ₹2,100—to ₹2,000 (based on a rate of ₹2,00,000 per kilogram).

Why are gold and silver prices falling?

Due to geopolitical tensions, crude oil prices in the international market have climbed beyond $111–$113 per barrel. This has raised concerns about rising inflation on a global scale. In such a scenario, the US Federal Reserve (US Fed) might choose to keep interest rates high to keep inflation under control.

This comes at a time when the market had been expecting an interest rate cut in December. Given the current situation, there is now a 75% probability that interest rates could be raised further in December. When interest rates are high, investors tend to withdraw capital from gold and shift it into bonds or other financial instruments. This leads to a decline in the demand for gold, causing its prices to fall.Apply for CLAT 2027 by November 7; Deadline Extended
