Shock to Delhi's medical students! All MBBS and PG seats of Jamia Hamdard have been canceled, know the reason
Jamia Hamdard University has canceled MBBS and PG medical seats for the academic session 2025-26. This decision has been taken due to financial irregularities and administrative interference.

This news is disappointing for the students dreaming of MBBS and PG medical courses in Delhi. Jamia Hamdard University has withdrawn all 150 MBBS and 49 PG medical seats for the academic session 2025-26. This decision has come at a time when NEET counseling is going to start from July 21. This step has been taken due to financial irregularities and administrative disputes related to the medical institute 'Hamdard Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (HIMSR)'.
The provisional seat matrix released by the National Medical Commission (NMC) shows zero seats for HIMSR. HIMSR is a medical college under Jamia Hamdard, which was established in 2012. In a letter sent to NMC on June 6, the Registrar of Jamia Hamdard said that due to the interference of some private parties, the university is no longer able to control the online portal and admission process of HIMSR. That is why the university had to disassociate itself from the recognition of MBBS and PG seats.
Vice Chancellor said - College is not following the rules
Jamia Hamdard Vice Chancellor Prof. Mohammad Afshar Alam said that he had instructed HIMSR several times to follow the guidelines of UGC, but the college management constantly ignored these rules. He also added that the university fully follows the guidelines of UGC, and keeping in mind the future of the students, positive results are now expected from the court. At present, new students will not be able to get admission.
Case of financial irregularities
At the root of the controversy are financial irregularities related to HIMSR and its associated HAH Centenary Hospital. According to the CAG (Comptroller and Auditor General) report, an amount of Rs 813 crore was transferred to Hamdard Education Society from 2011 to 2023, which is a violation of UGC rules. CAG has considered it a misuse of resources, which is against the interests of students and staff.
Now resort to court
Jamia Hamdard University has approached the Delhi High Court against these incidents. The petition filed in the court states that their official website and admission documents have been misused by third parties. The court, after hearing in the presence of the Central Government's lawyer and officials of the Ministry of Health, ruled that at present no seat of HIMSR will be included for counseling.
