Things to consider before investing in an FD
Before opening an FD, consider both the interest rate and the tenure of the deposit. Withdrawing funds before maturity may attract a penalty. Additionally, keep in mind the taxes applicable to the interest earned.
Under DICGC rules, eligible deposits of a single depositor in a bank are insured for up to ₹5 lakh, covering both the principal amount and the accrued interest. According to Paisabazaar, these interest rates are valid as of November 4, 2026.
