Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) on Thursday announced the launch of a chiplet-based system engineering service. It aims to accelerate semiconductor companies and help them make powerful chips. This will also strengthen the vision of making India a global semiconductor hub.

India's semiconductor market is growing rapidly. While its size is estimated to be $45-50 billion in the year 2024-25, it is estimated to reach $100-110 billion by 2030. In this direction, the government has also taken a big step and approved the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) of Rs 76,000 crore.

What are chiplets?

Chiplets are small integrated circuits that can be combined to form an advanced chip. As the traditional technology of miniaturizing transistors is reaching its limits, the demand for chiplets is increasing rapidly. With this new design method, companies can connect different chiplets as per the requirement. This not only reduces the cost, but also increases the speed of bringing the new product to the market manifold.

India will become a strength in the semiconductor sector.

At present, 20% of the world's chip design engineers are from India. This is the reason why big global companies are investing in manufacturing and assembly facilities in India. Now TCS's new service will further accelerate this growth, which will benefit both Indian and foreign companies with world-class expertise.

Company's vision

TCS also provides advanced package design services like 2.5D and 3D interposers, multi-layer organic substrates to semiconductor companies. With the help of these technologies, companies are able to create next-gen multi-chip products with better signal quality, faster performance, and compact design. TCS aims to provide flexibility, scalability, and faster market timing to semiconductor companies with this new service. The company says that technology investments, industry knowledge, and strong execution record make them a preferred partner for innovation.

Successful use has been made before

Recently, TCS, in collaboration with a North American semiconductor company, adopted chiplet-based design. With the help of this project, different types of chips were easily integrated into a system, which helped in making the design process more modern and efficient.
