Schools Closed in Delhi, UP, and Neighboring States: See the Complete List
Due to the severe cold and dense fog in North India, schools have been closed in several states. Holidays have been declared in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Punjab, keeping the safety of children in mind.
The biting cold and dense fog in North India have become a source of trouble for children, parents, and the general public. Temperatures have dropped significantly below normal in several states, including Delhi, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Himachal Pradesh.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also predicted cold weather and fog in the coming days. In light of this, several state governments have decided to close schools.
In Delhi, schools have been closed since January 1st. A week-long winter vacation has begun in all schools.
Similarly, in Gautam Buddh Nagar district, due to increasing pollution, severe cold, and dense fog, an order has been issued to keep all schools closed for four days. Schools from nursery to class 12 will remain closed until January 1st, 2026.
In Uttar Pradesh, considering the extreme cold, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered all schools in the state to remain closed until January 1st. This includes all ICSE, CBSE, and UP Board schools. This step has been taken keeping the safety of the children in mind.
In Patna, an order has been issued to keep all government and private schools up to class eight closed from December 31st to January 2nd. A new schedule has been set for classes above the eighth grade, from 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM, so that studies are not completely disrupted.
In Punjab, considering the continuously increasing cold and fog, holidays have been declared in all government, aided, and private schools until January 7th for the safety of children and school staff.
