The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has issued an important alert for mobile users across the country. TRAI has said that cybercriminals are making fake calls to people by claiming to be TRAI officials.

In fake calls, people are threatened that if they do not update their KYC, their SIM will be blocked. TRAI has made it clear that it never calls for KYC or other things. Apart from this, let us tell you that TRAI does not have the right to close any mobile number. The right to close the SIM is only with telecom companies, such as Jio, Airtel, Vodafone, or BSNL.

TRAI has not allowed any external agency to make calls related to KYC or SIM. If you also get such calls, you can complain by calling the National Cyber Helpline number 1930.
