Save over ₹2,000 on your electricity bill—just make this change to your AC setting
Claims suggest that running your AC at 28°C instead of 22°C can lower your electricity bill. Find out how adjusting the AC setting reportedly leads to monthly savings of ₹2,208 and annual savings of around ₹26,500.
If your electricity bill skyrockets whenever you use the AC during summer, take a look at this. Significant savings are claimed simply by changing one AC setting, rather than paying bills amounting to thousands of rupees every month. According to a content creator, switching the AC from 22°C to 28°C reduced her monthly electricity bill from approximately ₹3,500 to ₹1,292—a saving of ₹2,208 per month without buying a new AC or incurring major expenses.
Pooja explained that she used to run her AC for about 5 to 7 hours daily at a temperature of 22°C. After doing this for about two months, her monthly electricity bill came to around ₹3,500. She then adjusted the AC setting to 28°C and ran it for roughly the same duration over the next two months. Following this change, her electricity bill dropped to just ₹1,292. This resulted in a monthly saving of ₹2,208. If such savings continue throughout the year, the total amount saved could reach approximately ₹26,500.
The room stayed comfortably cool even at 28°C
According to Pooja, it initially took a little longer for the room to cool down at 28°C, but the temperature became comfortable after a short while. She also noted that she did not need to purchase a new AC or spend money on major modifications to achieve this. However, it is not guaranteed that everyone will save exactly ₹2,208 on their electricity bill using this method; actual electricity consumption depends on various factors. Factors such as room size, outdoor temperature, the AC model, its energy efficiency, and the number of hours it runs daily can all impact the electricity bill.
Use the AC wisely.
Pooja also advised cleaning the AC filter regularly; a dirty filter can force the AC to work harder. She noted that it is not always necessary to set the AC between 18°C and 22°C to achieve a comfortable temperature. It is important to note that this claim is based on a content creator's personal experience and has not been independently verified; therefore, it should not be viewed as a guaranteed saving applicable to every household.
