Delhi Lakshmi Yojana 2026: Under the Delhi government's 'Lakshmi Yojana', eligible women will begin receiving sanction letters for financial assistance starting August 26. The scheme provides monthly financial aid of ₹2,500 to eligible women. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta shared this important information following a meeting at the Delhi Secretariat on Tuesday (August 18). The Chief Minister stated that once the sanction letters are issued, the scheme's funds will be transferred directly to the beneficiaries' bank accounts. According to the government, the deposit of ₹2,500 into the women's accounts will commence on September 1.

The government initiated the application process for this scheme on August 1. Following the receipt of applications, the government began the process of screening applicants and verifying beneficiaries. The Chief Minister has instructed officials to ensure that the scheme's benefits reach eligible women on time and that transparency is maintained throughout the process.

Who is eligible?
To avail the benefits of this scheme, a woman must be between 21 and 60 years of age. Additionally, she must be a resident of Delhi, and her family income must fall within the prescribed limit. Applicants must be over 18 years old and have resided in Delhi for at least 10 years. The government has also clarified that women belonging to families with a government employee or a pensioner are ineligible for the scheme. Families that are income taxpayers are also excluded from the scheme's scope.

Furthermore, women already receiving regular financial assistance under any other government scheme will not be eligible for this scheme. Under government regulations, women or their family members who own a four-wheeler vehicle will not receive the scheme's benefits; however, electric vehicles are exempted from this rule.

Scheme funds to be transferred directly to bank accounts

The government has emphasized keeping the payment process digital and transparent. Eligible women will receive ₹2,500 directly into their bank accounts every month. To facilitate this, the beneficiary's bank account will be verified. According to the government, a woman is ineligible for the scheme if her family includes a government employee, an income taxpayer, or a member earning above a specified income limit. Additionally, applications may be rejected if any family member owns a four-wheeler.

**Monitoring the Application Process**

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta reviewed the scheme's implementation during a meeting with officials. She instructed them to ensure there are no irregularities in the application process and that eligible women receive the scheme's benefits on time. The government stated that approval letters would be issued to beneficiaries after the verification of applications is complete.

The distribution of approval letters will begin on August 26, and the process of transferring financial aid to bank accounts will start on September 1. The government states that the objective of the Lakshmi Yojana is to financially empower needy and eligible women in Delhi by providing them with regular financial assistance. Once the scheme is implemented, a large number of women are expected to receive financial aid directly into their bank accounts every month.

**Options for Receiving Funds**

Beneficiaries have been given the following options to receive the amount:

**Option 1:** Receive ₹1,000 per month in a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) wallet for daily expenses and deposit the remaining ₹1,500 into a Recurring Deposit (RD) or Fixed Deposit (FD) account.

**Option 2:** Deposit the entire amount of ₹2,500 into an RD or FD account for long-term savings.
